About ReJoye
Recycle Joye - ReJoye is a technology-enabled movement to re-distribute the fulfilment that comes from basic childhood items and experiences from the privileged to the underprivileged child across the world!
ReJoye smartly promotes circular economy and impart environmental conservation values, whilst empowering young entrepreneurs financially and become aware of a good cause.
The Story
At 29, like 80% of Africans, Viju has never experienced the joy of birthday celebrations. It's only, at best, filled with lots of recycled birthday text messages, a few calls, but without any memory-lasting celebration.
Viju grew to be unaware of important dates and fondness of thoughtful giving to make them symbolic. He turns a little too indifferent about important events, a little cold and non-empathetic with the dates for others.
Viju is turning 30, Rahima comes into the picture, orders him his first birthday cake, had him blow off birthday wishes candles for the first time in his 3 decades on earth.
Viju gets his first cut with overwhelming fulfilment and memories of a day when Joy circles down into his heart. Viju knows better now, has done better for himself as a successful airplane pilot, wants a repeat of Rahima effect, not only for himself, but for another child in Kigali!
Wande is a cool, hard working husband and dutiful father in Lagos. Wande ensures he never misses a chance to surprise his three kids. He enjoys fulfilling their endlessly-updated demand list for new toys.
Chioma, his wife, wonders what to do with the mounting stack of these abandoned plastic toys in the children's room and questions why Wande never sees the reality - the Joy of a new toy never lasts beyond the first month.
Chioma remembers that while growing the best she got was an imagination of toys - she would play with barbie in her mind, but never got real physical ones.
Like a light bulb moment, she pictures the mountain of toys in her house finding new home, sparking new feelings of Joy for kids like younger herself in Ikorodu!
She thought also, what about these dusty children books, the cloths, the tech gadgets they've all outgrown? Don't they all deserve another chance at igniting a new feeling of joy in the hearts of children who would never imagine owning one?
The Task
Common to Viju and Chioma's experiences is the very popular feeling shared by millions of people around the world - the burden to declutter, the desire to light up the worlds of other with items, experiences that they, their own children take for granted.
It is so much a common feeling that a lot of people have devised several methods for doing something about it. The problem here lies in the fragmented approaches that often course dwarfed impact and sometimes inaction, since the desire often get weened off by the thoughts of the painful rigour of implementation in a systemic way.
Hence ReJoye - a tech-enabled movement that brings this actionable inspiration into an intelligent system for re-distributing these joy givers, document entire process and impact stories to enhance a repeat!
The Action
We have built a system (platforms and processes) that will facilitate the re-distribution of joy-giving items and experiences between the privileged and underprivileged children, families in a society, fostering community bonding and promoting the adoption of a circular economy, which leads towards the building of a more cohesive, sustainable future for our world.
The Results
ReJoye at Prime is projected to create meaningful connections between two million families across the world, give first birthday experience to 20 million underprivileged children; recycle over:
Saving the environment 5 million cubic waste; empower 2 million young entrepreneurs financially and integrating 100 cities around the world with deeper connections and environmental sustainability force.
